Construction Now Complete
Willis Bond is proud to announce the completion of Catalina Bay Apartments, an exceptional $160
million waterfront development at the northernmost tip of Hobsonville Point, known as Catalina Bay.
Comprising 73 superb apartments and nine premium terraced homes (known as the Wharf Terraces),
the development boasts an unparalleled seaside village lifestyle, with exceptional local amenity,
breathtaking views of the Waitemata Harbour, and easy access to the water, both for transport links
and leisure.
Developer Willis Bond, worked with leading architecture firm Architectus, and construction partner LT
McGuinness to deliver the project, with over 2,200 people working on-site during the different phases
of its 28-month build.
“This locaSon is truly one of the great waterfront sites in Auckland. The water and surrounding views
are excepSonal thanks to the unique posiSon at the edge of Catalina Bay wharf area. The outlook from
the completed apartments has exceeded our expectaSons,” say Willis Bond Director, David
McGuinness.
Willis Bond has sold 65 residences within the development, predominantly to owner-occupiers, many
of whom are downsizers from Auckland’s north-west. This new community of residents will benefit
from convenient access to award-winning eateries, a popular Farmers Market, The Hangar co-working
space, a coastal boardwalk and a city-bound ferry service that runs all day – all within a minute’s walk
of home.
Designed with sustainability at its forefront, Catalina Bay Apartments has achieved a Homestar 7
design rating, which means the residences are designed to sustainability standards above and beyond
the Building Code. For owners, this translates to homes that are easy to keep warm and healthy and
are more cost effective to run.
The construction team also ensured that over 85% of unused building materials were repurposed or
recycled, significantly reducing waste during the build.
Known for its commitment to quality and craftsmanship, Willis Bond has ensured that Catalina Bay
Apartments meets the same high standards as its previous residential developments, which include
the award-winning Wynyard Quarter in Auckland and Clyde Quay Wharf in Wellington.
“We are also very pleased with the quality of the build and finishes thanks to the hard work of LT
McGuinness and the design team led by Architectus. The apartments have a luxurious and welcoming
feel, and the surrounding environment and amenity makes Catalina Bay a fantasSc lifestyle locaSon,”
says McGuinness.
Catalina Bay Apartments forms Stage 2 of Willis Bond’s masterplan for the Catalina Bay precinct. As
such, the development is designed to respect and enhance the historical significance of the site,
which was once a Royal New Zealand Air Force base. Willis Bond has previously transformed the
neighbouring heritage Air Force buildings into vibrant commercial and retail spaces as its first phase
of creating this unique and sought-after seaside community.
Willis Bond is now offering private viewings of some of the final apartments and Wharf Terraces
available for sale. “There are some beautiful 1-, 2-, and 3-bed options still available, and now that the
building is complete, you can experience them in person. We are looking forward to showing people
what’s on offer in this extraordinary new neighbourhood,” says McGuinness.
